What is a car brake booster?

A clutch booster is an automotive component used for hydraulic control of clutch mechanisms. Its function is to help increase output force and facilitate operation when the clutch is disengaged or engaged. In medium and heavy-duty vehicles, as well as some sedans, various power assist devices are added to reduce the force acting on the clutch pedal without increasing the pedal stroke due to the excessive transmission ratio of the transmission device. When the clutch pedal is pressed, hydraulic oil forms a certain pressure in the clutch master cylinder and enters the clutch booster. At this time, the hydraulic oil works in two steps in the booster. First, enter the hydraulic system of the clutch booster, and the hydraulic oil acts on the hydraulic piston, which pushes the B rod forward. The left end of the hydraulic piston is sealed with a D-shaped rubber ring to maintain the sealing of the hydraulic oil, and there are two hydraulic piston cups on the hydraulic piston. The other way flows to the clutch assist control valve system. While the hydraulic system is working, hydraulic oil pushes the relay valve. There are two rubber cups on the relay valve piston, which not only bear oil pressure but also serve as a seal. The piston of the relay valve moves to the left, overcoming the elasticity of the diaphragm return spring and the lift valve spring. The exhaust port is closed to open the lift valve, and compressed air enters the power cylinder. Overcoming the elasticity of the power cylinder return spring, the piston is pushed to move the A and B push rods to the right. At this time, the oil pressure and air pressure combine to provide assistance. In the absence of compressed air in the car's air reservoir, the hydraulic system of the booster can also function independently, but the operation is relatively laborious. The use of clutch boosters can improve the operational performance and driving comfort of the clutch, and is an indispensable part of modern cars.
